MAY 18th MEETING! From Canada, JIM CUMMING on SOUTH AMERICAN CICHLIDS! THE MAGNIFICENTS!
Jim Cumming hails from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada and is a lifelong fish keeper, having been involved in this wonderful hobby for over 50 years. Other than a fifteen year sojourn into the world of killifish (his online name is ‘notho2000’) he has kept and presently keeps mostly Central and South American cichlids, and he currently devotes about one third of his 40 aquarium fish room to Madagascan cichlids and the Etroplus genus from India. In this visit to the RMCA, he will be presenting the program, South American Cichlids: The Magnificents. Jim has extensive experience in maintaining and breeding many species from the South American continent and prides himself in using all of his own videos in his talk. He refers to this as a ‘whet your appetite’ presentation in that after seeing and hearing it, you will be inspired to delve further into this incredible group of fishes.
He maintains a very active YouTube channel with around 650 videos at last count, highlighting the fish he keeps or has kept, with the emphasis on maintenance and breeding. Jim is also a moderator for several Facebook forums, contributes regularly to other on-line forums as well (CRC, ACA, MFK, and the Winnipeg Fish Forum) and has had articles published in Amazonas and Cichlid News magazines. He is also is an ACA speaker, and a Species Specialist and a speaker for the CARES program. Having just returned from Europe where he presented to several German groups of cichlid keepers, he is really looking forward to returning to Denver, renewing friendships made last year, and enthusiastically spreading the word on the cichlids of South America.
Mini-Auction at end of meeting! If you would like to bring a bag of fish or two to sell.
We will also be bringing in fish from davesfish.comfor Mini-Auction. Feel free to contact Dave if you would like to order any fish and save with no shipping cost. Just tell Dave to ship it to the RMCA meeting!
